Santa Clarita homeowners, especially those living near Bouquet Canyon Road, David Way, Shadow Valley, and Pam Court, should prepare for a major traffic change starting this winter. The City of Santa Clarita has officially announced that a temporary 11-month closure of Bouquet Canyon Road is scheduled to begin mid-December 2025 as part of the Bouquet Canyon Roadway Safety & Realignment Project.

Why Is Bouquet Canyon Road Closing?

The City approved the Bouquet Canyon Roadway Safety & Realignment Project in 2020. The goal is to create:

  • A safer, more direct roadway between Plum Canyon Road and Vasquez Canyon Road

  • Updated creek and floodplain improvements

  • Long-term infrastructure to support planned development and public safety

As part of the construction, the Bouquet Canyon bridge will be demolished and rebuilt, requiring a full closure of the roadway.

When Will the Closure Start?

The City notice states that the closure will begin:

During this period, a detour will be in place, and traffic patterns will temporarily shift.

Which Neighborhoods Will Be Most Affected?

According to the project maps, the closure point appears to be after Pam Court. Because of this, residents on:

  • David Way

  • Shadow Valley

  • Pam Court

  • Surrounding side streets

…will not have direct access through Bouquet Canyon Road during construction.

Instead, these homeowners will need to use Benz Road as the temporary route in and out of the neighborhood. This will reroute local traffic and may increase congestion in the surrounding areas.

What Happens After the New Road Is Finished?

Once construction is complete and the new alignment is open:

  • Bouquet Canyon Road will fully reopen

  • Direct access will be restored for David Way, Shadow Valley, and nearby communities

  • Traffic flow should return to normal, with improved safety and a more efficient roadway layout

How Will Residents Be Notified?

The City has stated that:

  • Residents will receive advance notice before the closure
